It looks like LiAngelo Ball caved into peer pressure. The former UCLA player appeared on the Today Show with his dad LaVar Ball, to talk about the China shoplifting incident.
The young basketball player said he saw his friends taking things from the Louis Vuitton store so he decided to take an item too. Ball admitted to stealing a pair of LV sunglasses and was apparently caught by police the following day. He claims they spent over a day in jail. “It was horrible”, said Ball “They take your clothes, you wear what they have for you, the jumpsuit or whatever”, he continued.
Ball was one of three UCLA players accused of shoplifting. The charges were dropped a week later. The players returned to the U.S. shortly after Trump spoke with the Chinese President.
Rather than sit out for the team suspension (two to three months), LiAngelo Ball has decided to leave the institution altogether. “That’s just a long time of doing nothing – I’d rather be playing,” said Ball. His dad LaVar thinks the school’s punishment is too harsh. Now, the father and son are focused on training for the NBA.
